Seven Minutes to Shine: Financial Industries Set for Bright Lights of Finovate in Times Square

The age-old saying “All that glitters is not gold” served as a warning to fortune seekers about the perils of being enthralled by shiny things, but, in the modern age of fintech applications, the parable takes on a new, more encouraging significance, highlighting the multitude of ways that commerce has evolved far beyond the old gold standard for trading in wealth and consumables.

FinovateFall 2018, the premier New York City showcase for cutting-edge banking, financial and payment technologies, is all about showing off shiny new applications for engaging consumers in transacting money in all its forms, and it’s set to take place this month.

More than 1,500 attendees are expected at the event on September 24-27, at which 81 companies will present live demos of their technological innovations. Each presenting company will have just a seven-minute shot at wowing the crowd and winning the coveted “Beusst in Show” awards. No slides or videos are allowed in the presentations, keeping the focus on demonstrable effect in a rapid-fire succession of developments.

Startups such as PasswordPing and CrediVia have secured their place on stage, alongside legacy vendors such as Adobe and Envestnet | Yodlee, as they demonstrate fintech that enhances the security, mobility and speed of commerce worldwide. The five “Best in Show” awards from Finovate’s spring conference in San Jose went to Kasasa, Conversation.one, Dynamics Inc., Trusona and Alpharank.

In addition to tech demos, the conference will feature more than 100 select panel and keynote speakers while providing unparalleled networking opportunities for players in the fintech sector.

Since 2007, Finovate has earned its renown as the go-to event for those striving to stay abreast of new solutions in financial industries. The Times Square event this month is one in a series of Finovate conferences worldwide, including events in London, Hong Kong, San Jose, Cape Town and Dubai.
