Trump’s WLF Is Partnering with Firm Offering Chinese AI Models

President Donald Trump’s crypto business World Liberty Financial (WLF) is working with Hong Kong’s WorldClaw, a company that provides access to AI systems developed by both Chinese and American firms.

WorldClaw launched earlier this year and allows customers to use WLF’s USD1 stablecoin and other digital assets to pay for AI services. Trump’s family owns a 38% interest in WLF and receives income connected to the company’s crypto operations.

According to a review by Reuters, 43 of the 90 AI models offered by WorldClaw were developed by Chinese companies, including Z.ai, Alibaba, and Baidu. Several of those firms have been targeted by U.S. authorities over alleged national security or technology concerns. The platform also provides models developed by American companies, including Anthropic and OpenAI.

The arrangement is not prohibited under U.S. law. Nevertheless, experts on Chinese government ethics, trade, and technology questioned whether the partnership is consistent with the Trump administration’s approach to Chinese technology. They also raised concerns about the possibility that the president and his family could benefit financially from the relationship.

The precise financial terms between the companies remain unclear, as does the amount the Trump family may have earned from WorldClaw transactions.

WorldClaw states that it operates independently from WLF. Its website states that the company is not controlled or managed by WLF or its related businesses. A company representative said Ryan Fang, WLF’s head of growth, serves only as an outside adviser, assisting with partnerships and wider adoption of USD1.

Trump’s sons, Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr., have publicly promoted WorldClaw on X. The company has also promoted its WorldRouter service, which aggregates access to different AI systems and claims more than 10,000 users.

Several Chinese developers available through the platform face U.S. government restrictions. Z.ai is included on the Commerce Department’s Entity List, which limits access to U.S. technology, while Baidu and Alibaba have been designated by the Department of Defense as Chinese military-linked entities.

Other models available through WorldClaw come from Moonshot and DeepSeek, companies that U.S. officials have accused of obtaining American AI technology improperly. The companies have either rejected those allegations or disputed Washington’s classifications.

Experts also warn that Chinese AI systems could create security and privacy concerns for American users. Potential risks include malicious code, government monitoring, and censorship affecting AI-powered applications. WorldClaw says it has security measures in place and warns that information entered by users may be shared with the firms supplying its models.

Crypto firms like BitFuFu Inc. (NASDAQ: FUFU) may now be wondering whether anything that a Trump-linked business touches becomes mired in some controversy over possible ethics violations after this latest revelation that WLF is working with a company that provides technology from sanctioned Chinese entities.
