Mesh, a crypto payments infrastructure company, has teamed up with Visa in a move aimed at making stablecoins and crypto easier to use for everyday purchases. The partnership will allow people to spend funds held in compatible crypto wallets at merchants that accept Visa, both online and at physical stores.
Under the arrangement, Visa’s extensive merchant network will be connected to Mesh’s payment infrastructure. Visa operates across over 200 countries and reaches about 175 million merchants. Its network processed close to $15 trillion in payments during 2025, giving the collaboration a potentially broad reach for crypto users.
The system aims to work without requiring customers to transfer their assets to a separate account before making a purchase. Instead, a Visa payment credential can be created in the background, while Mesh manages the movement and conversion of funds needed to complete the transaction.
The partnership comes as crypto ownership continues to expand worldwide. Research from Crypto.com estimated that there were 774 million crypto holders by June 2026. However, only a limited portion is currently used for routine purchases. American Banker reported that crypto-linked card spending was averaging about $1.5 billion a month toward the end of 2025, a relatively small figure compared with the wider payments market.
Mesh argues that existing options often require users to take an additional step before spending digital assets. Consumers may need to convert crypto into fiat currency and move the proceeds to an account or obtain a payment card connected to a particular service. The new arrangement is intended to reduce those hurdles by allowing funds already held in a wallet to be used when a payment is made.
Details about when the service will launch, which devices will support it, and which platforms will participate have not yet been disclosed.
Mesh has previously supplied payment infrastructure for PayPal’s cryptocurrency service. The company surpassed $130 million in total funding in August last year after investments from Coinbase Ventures, PayPal, and other backers. In January 2026, it reached unicorn status following a $75 million Series C funding round led by Dragonfly.
For Visa, the agreement adds to a broader effort to connect digital assets and stablecoins with its established payments infrastructure. In April, WeFi and Visa announced plans supporting crypto spending through personal wallets. Visa also partnered with Bridge last year to help developers issue cards based on stablecoin balances.
As more such partnerships are implemented, crypto payments could become a common way to complete purchases and other transactions, a development that crypto firms like Bullish (NYSE: BLSH) are likely to see as deepening the penetration of digital assets in mainstream finance.
