Crypto Stocks Record Gains as Money Moves from AI Stocks

Shares tied to the crypto sector posted strong gains early this week, outperforming much of the wider market as investors shifted funds away from AI infrastructure and semiconductor companies.

BitMine Immersion recorded the biggest advance, climbing 11% after revealing it had expanded its Ether reserves by almost 10,000 tokens. Based on current market values, the latest purchase is worth roughly $19.4 million. SharpLink Gaming, another Ether holder, also moved higher, rising about 6%. Strategy, a long-time Bitcoin holder, gained 7%.

Figure Technology, Coinbase Global, and BitGo each finished between 4 and 6 percent higher. Circle added 2% after announcing the acquisition of IBM’s worldwide portfolio of nearly 1,000 issued blockchain patents. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The rally across crypto-related equities coincided with declining U.S. Treasury yields, falling oil prices, and continued selling pressure in memory chip manufacturers and companies closely linked to AI infrastructure.

According to Compass Point analyst Michael Donovan, investor caution reflected growing concerns about the large capital spending requirements facing firms involved in AI and mining. He noted that some companies may need to secure additional financing at higher borrowing costs to continue funding future expansion projects.

Shares connected to AI and chips remained under pressure as investors weighed increasing competition from Chinese semiconductor manufacturers alongside concerns surrounding financing within the sector.

Analysts note that the reassessment of risk encouraged investors to move capital into alternative themes, with crypto-related stocks emerging as one of the main beneficiaries.

Companies operating Bitcoin mining facilities experienced broad declines, particularly those with significant exposure to AI infrastructure. Cipher Mining fell 8%, while Hut 8 dropped 6% and TeraWulf lost 4%.

Selling also spread to miners focused primarily on Bitcoin production. Riot Platforms declined 5%, CleanSpark fell 4%, MARA Holdings slipped 3%, and Core Scientific, which has increasingly shifted its business toward data center operations, dropped 9%.

Investors now value many listed Bitcoin miners not only for their digital asset production but also for their ownership of valuable energy infrastructure, data centers, and power agreements. As a result, companies such as Riot Platforms and Mara Holdings often move in tandem with AI-related mining firms through sector exchange-traded funds, thematic investment strategies, and automated trading models.

According to analysts, concerns over financing capacity could weigh on the group in the near term, even as demand for core AI computing infrastructure remains strong. Bitcoin traded below $65,000, while Ether rose 1% to around $1,900.

Analysts will now be watching how the stocks of crypto firms like Bullish (NYSE: BLSH) perform over the coming weeks as more AI companies release their earnings reports.
